I initially sketched this card when life was feeling too heavy, as a reminder to myself how lucky we are to see in another year of life. It turned in to a celebration of beauty.
I hope you see a beautiful mermaid, then on second glance see she is wearing a headscarf and has had a mastectomy. She is glorious, not inspite of, not because of. A force of nature, wonderous in all her forms.
