My Black Dog Print and Badly Written Poem
For each sale made 20% of all profits are donated to the mental health charity Mind.
The inspiration for this print and poem:
In 2020, we were all plunged in to a world of uncertainty and worry. I like many others, found my mental health deeply affected. After ignoring poor mental health for as long as I remember and post natal depression from the birth of my child many years before, 2020 was the year The Black Dog took full control.
Despite having a great life, with lots of amazing and supportive loved ones I suffered a nervous breakdown. This was when I realised as much as we talk more openly than ever before about Mental Health and Self Care, when it comes to Mental Illness there is still a huge amount of stigma attached. I still remember the first person I told outside of my family, visibly recoil from sheer uncomfortableness. There is a switch when you go from, "I am a really anxious person that worries too much", to "I am really struggling to cope, I can't function and I need help".
I started writing this badly written poem as a way to try and describe the helplessness of feeling at your lowest, that you have no control and are being whisked off by the tide, by a force it is impossible to fight against. How it can feel when that fog descends and you can't remember what it was like to feel okay, and cant imagine ever feeling that way again. Then suddenly the fog lifts a little, and you remember, you can breathe. You don't know for how long for, but you feel hope, hope you can feel okay again.
This set is something I thought could be bought for yourself, as a reminder that you can live with your black dog and you will be okay, or for a friend or loved one to show you are trying to understand and are there for them.

This listing is for a full colour, premium quality art print using giclee printing principles with a superlative archival fine art coating on heavy 230gsm acid-free clean white paper stock with pin-sharp image re-production at a minimum of 500DPI. I have worked hard to insure the print has rich and vivid colours and excellent clarity.
*SIZES*
Available in A5, A4 and A3 sizes as standard. Check out the image that shows print sizes or drop me a message if you aren’t sure on sizing.
If you would like a bespoke or larger size I can do that, just drop me a message.
For A3 prints please ase double check your frame size as some will say they are A3 but will be 300mm across which will leave a little (1.5mm) gap either side of your print when framed. Please contact me if you would like frame recommendations.
*THE SMALL PRINT*
My prints are all unframed. Please remember colours can appear slightly differently on a back lit screen than they do in real life
*PACKAGING & DELIVERY*
A4 and A5 prints are packed in a protective sleeve made from plants not plastic, with fully recyclable backing board for stability, posted in a recyclable card backed flat envelope.
A3 prints are rolled and posted in a postal tube. Place under books on a clean dry surface to flatten. If you order more than one A3 print the are sent flat in a hard backed envelope with backing boards in each cello.
It’s just me, working from my micro office/ bed/ floor/ sofa/ beach/ bench/ train/ anywhere I get a chance too, while running after two small humans. I try to get orders out as quickly as possible, this is usually once or twice a week. If you need your order for a particular date please message me (don’t leave a note on the order / do both) and I will do my best to get it to you in time.
Royal Mail shipping times are estimates and not guarantees.
Postal strikes and backlog will affect delivery times considerably. Please upgrade to courier delivery if you wish to avoid this.
